cleaning out my closet

As you can see from my posts from November and December, I was just ovewhelmed by the endless year-end going ons and I really lost all motivation to blog.  Everything went by so quickly that if I hadn’t had my trusty camera with me, I’d have just let these past two months run by me and they’d be nothing but a blur (sometimes I wish that were the case).

Let’s begin with Church camp.  It was a really tough time preparing for it, and everything felt extremely last minute.  The younger ones (Primary 6 to Secondary 2) left for The Pulai Resort, Desaru on the 4th and the seniors went over on the 7th.  Honestly I wasn’t spiritually prepared to go because my mind was totally occupied with all the admin stuff that had to be done.  Glad to say that God did show up at the camp, even though at the beginning it seemed like He wouldn’t.  Got to know a lot of the young ones better.  Really glad for my camp comm and I think this is probably the closest knit camp comm I’ve seen in our youth ministry (aside from the ‘86 batch that did Kota Tiggi =P).  Received a whole lot of encouragement from the comm and those not even in the comm.  Glad to know at least my efforts actually mean something to people.  There were times it really seemed like they didn’t.  I hadn’t gotten that dirty and messy during games for a long long time and even though I screamed, chased, tackled and fought those who got me, deep down I enjoyed it.  I think how dirty/wet/gross you get in these camps is a measure of how popular you are.  Click for full pic with captions and notes.

Senior Youth Camp

After coming back from camp, we barely had time to recover and debrief and then our cluster had I’ll Be Home For Christmas e at The Third Place.  It was a lovely time and sorta like a Camp Echo.  This time we really had a lot of new faces and it’s amazing and heartening to see them coming back and joining us.  A lot of them are going to be joining cell groups too.  This camp really achieved the objective of bringing new friends in. Then Christmas came and went.  I think this was the year I recieved the most presents from church people (mostly my cell gals - they’re the sweetest bunch.)  I stayed up till 4.30am on Christmas Eve to have all my cards and gifts ready for Chistmas day.

Boxing Day was spent with the gang to have a belated birthday celebration for Greg.  Russell and Melissa, Mel’s siblings also joined us.  Paintballing is a painful experience.  Then had a fantastic lunch buffet at Rice Table and caught Narnia. Beautiful stuff. Felt teary at some point. Then we went to Jack’s and finished playing the entire deck of Taboo cards!

Wednesday night was an impromptu get together with my old Crescent pals for drinks at Timbre. Heard EIC live and think they’re fantastic. Got to meet some of Merianne’s friends who are regulars there. You guys have no idea how much I needed that outing.
