a hard day’s night

Starting to feel the pressure at work. Now that Vicki’s gone, I’m the one managing most of the stuff in the lab, like making sure stuff doesn’t run out/dry out/break down, on top of doing experiments and POs. Came home with a headache yesterday so I crashed after watching High Fidelity. Watched about three quarters of it, then fell asleep, so will continue watching tonight or something. It’s a good show. I was interested in it after reading the commentary on it that came out in Life! a month ago, after it was shown on Channel 5. What I love about it is how John Cusack’s character talks about experiencing music autobiographically. I guess, again, it’s back to tagging music to memories. Something I definitely identify with. I’ll definitely look into watching more John Cusack films. Next up, Being John Malkovich.

Tomorrow I still got a whole new batch of IP waiting for me to do, gotta run gels, make buffers, top up nitrogen tanks, on top of compiling results and stuff. There may even be a bunch of students being brought over to my lab by another prof. I really hope I don’t have to entertain them or teach them, cos I don’t think I can handle it. -_-;;; Those young punks prolly know as much as I do anyway. Just when I’m starting to get the hang of all the responsibility in the lab, it all starts going crazy. I’ve also got to worry about the cluster meeting on Friday. Somehow I’m feeling extremely overwhelmed with having to manage my lab, my experiments, my cell group, my friggin personal life. If I can get through all this, I guess I can truly consider myself grown up.

Today we had a fire drill at work. Trudged down in the hot morning sun. While everyone was assembled at the field, somebody’s handphone went off and I swear the ringtone was Relight My Fire by Take That. Haha.
